A good and recommended practice is working with a levelled development and production environment. Development environment should be an image of production one 'cause is the best way to be sure that everything which works in dev will work in prod after transporting the processes.
I you want to work with Oracle 10 and Oracle 11, I will recommend to use the same name for the DataStore and declare two configurations for it datastore. Right click on the datastore --> edit --> Advanced button --> in the right-bottom --> Configuration: Edit.
